HTML Mail Readers

HTML email is a way to make messages appear in a nicely formatted way - with decent fonts, pictures etc. It uses the same technology that makes web pages - HTML - to make it happen.  HTML email has been around for a few years now and most modern mail systems can accept it.  Certainly it's the way of the future and will increasingly become the accepted standard for formatted email.

We're using HTML email for our new FREE twice monthly newsletter - Woody's Windows Watch -- click here to join today.

Here's a short list of mail clients that can read (and usually send) mail formatted using HTML (Web page) codes:

HTML mail is also supported by some web email services including:

  • Hotmail
  • Rocketmail
  • WebTV

HTML MAIL TEST

Woody's Office Watch has setup a simple way for you to test the compatibility of your system for HTML email.

Send a blank message to testHTML@wopr.com and our 'bot will send back a sample HTML message.

The message is small and simple -- a few lines of text and an embedded graphic -- just enough to test general compatibility of your system.  We have successfully received the test message with many different versions of Outlook Express, Netscape Messenger, Eudora etc.

If you can't read the message, then check the compatibility of your mail software and/or consult with your network administrator or other computer helper.  Sometimes its just a few simple changes or upgrade to the mail system that are required for HTML email to flow smoothly.  In some cases, in particular with company mail systems, some changes / upgrades to the mail routing software are needed for HTML email to pass through OK.

While we're happy to provide this free service for our readers, you use this service on the understanding that we are not responsible for any difficulties you may experience.   The test message is provided to help you check the adequacy of your setup to receive HTML email and give you a free way to check when you've made any changes / upgrades required. We can't assist in solving individual mail problems and your use of the service acknowledges that we are not required to assist you in any way to fix your individual mail receipt difficulties.
